Nails done? Mhmm! Finally!

So I finally had time to do some actual nail work on my nails, other than my typical nail gradient splatters (which I still freakin' love).
I kept it simple and just used four colors.

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

So here is a shot of my current nails, my typical gradient and splatter look.  If you would like to know how I did it, you could spot it on my tutorial page.

Today I would like to share with you another goodie I received from the lovely company BirchboxColor Club's Disco Nap mini bottle was included within my box.  I was super excited when I saw this, cause if you know me I am also a lover of polishes! I am not really into mini nail polish bottles, but honestly I do not mind it at all.
Disco Nap is a part of their foil collection, and the only seller I have seen so far for it is from Birchbox for $8.

My Saturday Look

Saturday was a very emotional day for me.  It was my grandfather's birthday, and he would of been 82 years old.  Though how many years have passed it is still something that hits me in so many ways.  That same year I lost my grandmother and grandfather months near each other.  I haven't cried about them since their funeral, and after reflecting how things have changed between my mom's side of the family, it hit me hard.  I miss them both loads.
We went to my mom's house for a bbq, to celebrate my grandfather's birthday.  Upon returning home, I cried as I reflected on the memories I had of them both.  I shut down for the rest of the night.  Just wanting to be alone.  Losing loved ones is never easy.  May they rest in peace.
Kahit ano nga yare nga dyan yung familia mo para sayo (No matter what happens your family is there for you).
So here is the look I did for that day:

Review: Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner - Curacao

Today I will be showing you a sample I received from Birchbox, the Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Curacao.
This was the first glitter like eyeliner I have used.  I only use black eyeliners to be honest.  With me, it doesn't hurt to try, and to try something new.

Review: Dash Minerals - sample pigments

I have to be honest, these samples have actually been sitting at the bottom of my stash for a year now.  I had forgotten about them, until recently when I was clearing out things to see what I wanted and not wanted.  These loose eyeshadows, in which I call pigments, are from a company called Dash Minerals, but also known as Mineral Perfections
I heard about the product, by being Google curious.  At that time the company was offering free samples.  You pick 5 items you want, and pay for shipping which was only $1.25 sum back then.  They ended up tossing in an extra sample.  Right now their samples are from $0.25 to $0.50 a piece.  So honestly it isn't that bad since you could do several looks with the product.

Review: theBalm - Meet Matt(e)

I would like you to Meet Matt(e), a well respected palette from the company theBalm.
I had received it from my husband for Mother's day, and I was super excited upon getting it.  I have been wanting Meet Matt(e) for awhile now, so this was an awesome gift for me.

Behold a preview of "Liberius" - and yay won FilmFights Heavyweight

Here is a promotional clip of "Liberius" that will be sent to FilmFights.com.  My brother Matthew Castro was the director and editor.  I was on make-up and nails.  SFX was our friend Adam Biller, did a good job!  Director of Photography and Lighting Coordinator Jonathan Bouknight.  Sound was our friend Timmy Stewart, and my husband Steve.  Music by Wesley Carter.

An exorcist and his apprentice find a young woman in a small household possessed by a demon, and after they perform their standard ritual, things suddenly take a turn for the worst when the exorcism doesn't go as planned.
It was great meeting new people.  Not to mention the actors and actress were so friendly, and fun to work with.  They did a great job!  Johnny Francis Wolf, Elspeth Weingarten, Torrey Drake, and Troi Feinberg showed passion in what they were doing.

Thank you all who were on set for the great laughs!

Thank you to those who voted for the film!  We won the gold this weekend for heavyweight possessed category.
So enjoy and thank you for stopping by my blog.

Mario Badescu Skin Care samples

So a fellow blogger Jessica had posted about a skin care company called Mario Badescu, and how she received free samples from them.  I have heard and seen their products before, but since I rarely get pimples I never paid attention to them.  After seeing Jess' post, I decided to take a peek at them.  Perfect opportunity to right?  I mean who doesn't love to get free samples of a product?
In order to see if you qualify for their samples you take a little survey on their site (click here) that will ask you questions about your skin type, and pimple related issues.  After about two days, they will send you an email if you would like to receive their product.
About a week and a half I received my package.  I have been dealing with pimples as of late.  Nothing huge just small bumps near my nose.  So what a perfect chance to try out some new products!  They also gave me products that suited my skin type needs, which at the moment is combination.
I received eight samples, and they also supplied a catalog in-case I wanted to order their products, as well as a guideline in how to use the products that the package came in.  The instruction guideline is very helpful for those who are unsure when to apply a product.  It gives quick easy directions from morning to night time.
So here are the items I received:
  • Aloe Lotion a soothing aloe and 2% alcohol make up this mild astringent for combination skin.  Disinfects skin's surface and removes residue that can clog pores.
  • Orange Cleansing Soap contains orange extract that makes this gentle, cream cleanser mildly exfoliating and very refreshing.  It is safe for all skin types to help remove makeup and build-up upon the skin.
  • Hyaluronic Moisturizer SPF 15 a daily moisturizer and moderate sun protection for combination, dry skin.  If you're allergic to peanuts, this product is not for you due to the fact it contains peanut oil.
  • Glycolic Eye Cream for mature skin showing signs of wrinkles and sun damage.
  • Bee Pollen Night Cream skin softening cream which provides a combination of natural oils with bee pollen and honey extract.  It hydrates and improves the texture of the skin overnight.
  • Flower and Tonic Mask is a combination purifying and calming mask for congested, bumpy or slightly oily skin types.
  • Strawberry Face Scrub is actually made with real strawberry seeds that will gently buff away flaky skin.  It improves overall texture to the skin by revealing healthy, glowing skin while preventing blackheads.
  • Drying Cream is an effective treatment to dry up small under surface blemishes that appear as raised bumps in oily areas of the skins.
I just started using it yesterday, so I will know later on how good these products are upon my skin.  The prices of their items aren't that bad.  So far I am loving the night cream!
Have you tried Mario Badescu products?  What is your favorite product from them?

My first Birchbox!

I finally decided to try out this whole Birchbox scene that a lot of the bbloggers have been talking about.  Birchbox is a company that is the best way to discover new grooming, beauty and lifestyle products.  There are different subscription types, but I picked the $10 a month.  Every month you'll obtain a box with samples inside that fit your profile.  I find it better than buying sample sizes from shops at times.  Since even some sample sizes could cost about $16 sum.  So why not just opt out for a box that is $10.  You could also buy your items on their site and earn points with every purchase.
So I received my Birchbox over the weekend, and this month it was focus upon Gossip Girl.

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

First off I would like to state, if you don't like the shape of my nail, you don't have to make a comment about it.  It is my nails, not yours.  You're entitled to your own opinion, and I am entitled to ignoring rude comments.  Sorry it had to be stated.
So my current nails are my typical splatter gradient type.  No matter what, I love doing them.  They are so fun and easy to do.  For a tutorial on them: Here.

Super simple nails

So here are the nails that I had for the past few days.  If you're following me on Twitter, you might know how busy I have been.  I kept it super simple.
Nail Polish Used:
  • Wet n Wild Spoiled - Thanks a Latte
  • Milani Nail Lacquer - Beach Front
  • Milani One Coat Glitter Nail Lacquer - Twinkle
  • NYC New York Color Matte me Crazy
And with that, I am sad to say my thumb nail broke yesterday.  I ended up bumping it against a car chair pretty hard, and it broke off.
I was spending time with my family, when it happened.  BOO! :( -cries- I didn't have a file in my purse, so I ended up swinging to the 99cents store to pick one up since it was late.
When I got home, after putting together the kits for the shoot we are having today, I ended up filing my nails down a bit.  I will post my current nails some time later today hopefully.  If not today, tomorrow.

When was the last time you broke your nail?

L.o.t.D. Teal me up

Today's look is one of my favorite eyeshadow shades combination.  I seriously love the shades pink, purple, and teal working together on a look.

Tutorial: Nail Art - Sponge Gradient meets Splatter

Remember this nail look I did?  If you don't you can spot it here.
Well I was asked to make a tutorial on this, and I know it is long over due!  So sorry for that, but here it is and I hope you enjoy it!

Uh-oh! FiS Moment!!

So here are the goodies I got over the weekend!  Most of them were from Walgreens.  I swear my local Walgreens, a bunch of them know me now haha.  I almost went there every day last week just because of the sales.  Friday was my last grab from them, and I only grabbed a few on Sunday.
Oh Mail! Oh My!
  • Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum
  • JÄ€SÖN Restorative Biotin Pure Natural Shampoo
I received these in the mail from Klout, which is a great way to get free items!  You get to compare your score with friends and such.  It's pretty interesting!  So if you're into blogging, twitting, etc. make sure to check them out!  I'll be giving the Neutrogena to my mom.  And can't wait to use the shampoo!  Thanks Klout!
**Under no obligation did I receive this item or talk about Klout.  I will not get any additional benefits for talking about the product or company.
Sally Beauty:
  • Lip Gloss Applicators & Mascara Wands
I couldn't believe I just went in there, grabbed what I needed for work, and left.  I think mostly cause one of the workers at the Sally I went to, which by the way I never go to that one, irked me!  She was arguing with me saying she thought my nails were fake, and that I didn't do them.  She then went on how she has to do stiletto nails for class.  I am sorry if my nails were fake, I'll let you know!  And I never let anyone do my nails really!  If I didn't do them I'll say where I got it done.  -sigh- K end of that.  It just annoys me when people just keep saying I didn't do them, or insisting that they are fake.  HATERS HAHAHA!  Okay vent over!  Back to my haul!
Target:
  • Pond's S Hydrator for dry or sensitive skin
  • ELF Clear mascara and brow
Picked up the ELF for easy usage on the male actors for the shoot.  Honestly I rarely use it unless their brows need to be groomed up a bit.  I decided to try out Pond's S Hydrator, since the last Pond's moisturizer I have tried was in high school.  Hopefully it'll be good for hubs dry and sensitive skin issue.  Lately he has been using theBalm's timeBalm Vanilla Oil moisturizer, which he loves.  And here is a little confession:  I have been such a moisturizer fiend lately!
Walgreens:
  • 6 Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm (BOGOF) - 2 have been left out of the picture
  • Nivea creme moisturizer & soft creme moisturizer (BOGO1/2)
  • 2 Rimmel London Foundation - which will be used for work
  • Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Pro Primer
  • Rimmel London Sexy Curves waterproof mascara - black
  • Rimmel London Gentle Eye makeup remover RAIN CHECK for 2
When I bought the Rimmel items it was during their 50% off.  I asked for a rain check on their eye makeup remover since they didn't have anymore.  Still an awesome grab, and I am hoping that they are in stock before my coupon expires!
Rite-Aid:
  • Revlon - Whimsical
Been hearing about this polish for awhile, and thought I should finally grab it.  At the moment all Revlon items are at 40% off at Rite-Aid.  So if you love their products head on over there.  Also make sure to like Rite-Aid on their Facebook page so you could get the $1 off coupon for a Revlon nail polish.  So I basically paid $1.99 for Whimsical!  How awesome is that?
CVS:
  • Wet n Wild Spoiled - Let's have sushi
  • Wet n Wild Spoiled - Lox-y Lady
  • Wet n Wild Spoiled - Thanks a Latte
If you haven't heard, Wet n Wild Spoiled polish is on sale for $0.99 this week over at CVS!  So make sure to get them before they run out.
And there you have it!  My total FiS moment, and with that I am going on a no-buy for awhile.  How long does your no-buy cosmetics usually last?  Mine...not that long to be honest.  I always end up cracking over something.  So I am going to see how long I could last on this one.

5.06.2012

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

It really is gradient mania going on these past few days.  Normally when I do gradients I do the sponging technique.  Where I would take pieces of a cosmetic sponge, and dip it into some nail polish, and then on to my nail bed.

Lately I have been trying out other gradient techniques, that I have discovered, and by far I am loving my fellow nail art lover Sammy's (The Nailasaurus) technique.  It's simple to do, and it just makes it look perfect!  So make sure to check out her nail work as well!  She does a brilliant job when it comes to nail polish.

So on to my nails!
"THE CLAWWWW!"  *imitates the voice of the toy aliens from Toy Story* Seriously every time I hear someone complain about how someone takes a picture of their nails doing the claw, that pops in my head.  I think the claw is one of the best ways to show off all your fingers, and thumb :)
Nail Polish Used:
  • ORLY Bonder for base coat
  • Rimmel London English Rose
  • Rimmel London Hard Metal
  • China Glaze Fast Forward for top coat

How do you do your gradients?

A Taste of Blood

I am currently deciding what nail look to do for a scene on a shoot that I will be working on.

Thank you to my hubs for being my hand model (pictures above).

This one I wanted it simple and just get them dirty for the scene.

Now I am thinking of doing a mixture of both but try to cut the blood down a bit.
So basically all that was used:
  • Nail Polish (blood red, brown, black, and a yellow)
  • Black Eyeliner
  • Sugarpill Sweetheart & Broken Heart palette, Bulletproof
  • Coastal Scents Go Palette Cairo
Have to keep sketching and thinking of what I will be doing for it really.

Scattered about!

Been pretty busy lately with a lot of projects going on.  So here are some looks that I did over the weekend that I never got around to posting.  Please excuse the mess!

5.02.2012

Uh-oh! FiS moment!

So I went back to Walgreens since that 50% off Rimmel is going on until Saturday, and I knew I had to pick up some other stuff.  Don't forget if you are planning on buying some Rimmel, make sure to check out my other FiS for coupons on it.  You can seriously save some major bucks!
The two packs of Makeup Remover from Nature's Care is a 15 sheet, and I bought them at Rite-aid.  They were $1.99 each, and wanted something to try out new for wipes.

All the Rimmel London items I bought at Walgreens.  Seriously this sale + the coupon is just way too awesome!
Rimmel London snagged up:
  • Clean Finish Foundation - Ivory (was for my bestie, but it's the wrong shade OPP.  So just going to go back and exchange it.) Original Price $5 sum Sale price $2.74 - $1 coupon
  • Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Original Price $7 sum Sale price $3.74 - $1 coupon
  • Volume Accelerator Mascara Original Price $9 sum Sale Price $4.74 - $1 coupon
  • Lash Accelerator Mascara Original Price $9 sum Sale Price $4.49 - $1 coupon
  • Lasting Finish Pro Nail Polishes Original Price $4 sum Sale Price $2.24 - $1 coupon
I spent a total of  $14.19 plus tax.  I saved about $26 on my haul!  Gotta love saving when it comes to cosmetics!

Have you picked up some Rimmel London items from Walgreens' sale yet?

Review: Wet 'n' Wild Megalast Lip Colors - Coral-ine, & Purty Persimmon

So for those of you who do not know, I am loving these lipsticks from Wet n Wild!  Their Megalast Lip Color is by far my favorite product from them!  For more shades: Here
I ended up picking these up at K-mart for BOGO1/2 and they were priced at $2.99.  They actually carry a lot more shades, than other places that I have found these at.

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

So my current nails are a mixture of two tutorials that I came across.
  • My friend Emily had posted a link of Madeline Poole's perfect way to do gradient nails.
  • I have been seeing saran wrap marble nails a lot lately.  So I figured I would try it.  I used Nailed It's tutorial upon it.
