Nails: Just splattering around

Yesterday I decided to do a splatter scene but combine it with some other nail art techniques.  I did two fingers with toothbrush splatter over a white base color, and the other two and thumb a straw splatter over a gem sponge marble technique.  You could find the tutorial here.

At first I attempted a spray paint splatter where you use a spray bottle and dilute some droplets of nail polish with thinner and spritz it on your nails, but I honestly had no patience.

Nails: Gradient Spun Sugar

Today's nails were inspired by friend Sarah, also known as Chalkboard Nails.  She had done a nail design based off of a dress by Betsey Johnson during NYFW.  You could read more about it at her blog.  She had a nice framed sponged base, and did  the spun sugar technique over it.  I have seen the technique before, but never attempted it; always wanted to try it out.  Sarah's post of it was the push I needed!

As I was doing the spun sugar on my nails I quickly realized I wanted cotton candy!  Not just any cotton candy, the ones you get at fairs, amusement parks, etc.  It brought me back to when I was little waiting in line as the person was twirling the stick thingy in the machine to swoop up the cotton candy.  And you would see the sugar strings stick against the glass/plastic shield.

The spun sugar technique isn't as difficult as it seems at all, and I found it pretty fun to do.  May be a bit time consuming, but well worth it in the end.

Nails: Take a trip with me to outer-space!

Come with me and travel outer-space as I take you on a journey of my galaxy nails!

Today's nails were inspired by my lovely friends : Emily and Christina.  I am so glad I met these two really.  They inspire me in so many ways be it nails makeup or just grabbing a bite to eat.  I could always count on them for a laugh.  So make sure to check out their blogs:

They recently both did a galaxy drip, that as soon as I saw them I loved it!  I knew I had to do a galaxy mani since I haven't done for awhile, and not to mention they are always a blast to make.

Nails & Review: 'Cause this is thriller, thriller night

Normally I would title this as review and the product name but I just could not help it!  In my package from KKCenterHk, they included some water nail decals featuring Michael Jackson (Water Decals Nail Art Decoration Michael Jackson [WDBLE431])!  He was and still is truly a great inspiration for the music industry!   As I was opening up my package, my son (Xan) came over and started snooping around.  He always does that and gets excited to see what I get.  He quickly spotted the Michael Jackson water decals, and goes "You have to put these on now!"  Oh did I forget to mention to you, he loves listening to Michael Jackson!
The one on my thumb was Xan's favorite image out of the five images that are on the sheets.  I have to agree with him!

Nails done: Lei you down!

So this week I bring to you another Hawaiian based theme.  My focus was the lovely hibiscus and plumeria found around that beautiful tropical island.  It helped give me the time to practice up on my floral more.  I still have a hard time doing them but I would like to believe that I am getting better at it.  I never really liked doing flowers for some reason.  I think it has to do with my non-girly side really.

Nails done: Aloha `oe, aloha `oe

Aloha `oe, aloha `oe
E ke onaona noho i ka lipo
One fond embrace,
A ho`i a`e au
Until we meet again
Translation:

Farewell to you, farewell to you
The charming one who dwells in the shaded bowers
One fond embrace,
'Ere I depart
Until we meet again

So by the title you could already tell that this was my sort of Hawaiian tropical theme.  I recently found an old outfits and leis in my closest that was from when I use to do Polynesian dancing with my Auntie Bennett when I was eight years old.  Gosh that was so long ago!  haha let's leave those kiddie pictures of me off the net LOL.

It began bringing back memories of traveling and how beautiful the islands were.  From Hawaii to Guam to the Philippines.  Cherish the memories you have.

When things don't go as planned but still come out AWESOME!

Originally I wanted to do a look of a bunch of neons on one nail, but then I realized I had executed it wrong.  So basically said "Bump it," and continued going on in a different direction.  I still love how this neon gradient splatter came out.  I always loved a neon base with black nail polish splatter over it.  Just gives that OH feeling!
Before I go on about this, here is a tutorial of how to do them.
They came out wonderful, despite things not going as planned.  But that happens and you just got to make the best of it.

Nails! Waking up to the sunrise!

So last week I was inspired to do sunrise nails.  I have done them before but I always mixed it up with different looks for each nail.  This time I decided I wanted to keep it all the same just to try something different.  Sadly I didn't keep these on that long.  Life of a nail lover!
I always loved sunrises and sunsets, because they never get old to gaze out.  Just for that little moment I feel relaxed.

Nail Polish: Wet 'n' Wild - Bite the Bullet

I was looking at my pictures and I realized I have some shots of things that I have never posted yet.  I saw the picture and was instantly missing my long nails.  They are currently growing out but I have been cutting it since some of them had been damaged badly.  I trimmed it down a bit more just to get rid of the damaged tips.
I don't even remember when I bought this polish, but I know it was awhile ago haha.
Wet n Wild's Megalast Bite the Bullet, was one of those shades that I wasn't sure if I wanted it or not.

Uh-Oh! FiS on Sinful Colors and New York Colors

So before everyone starts doing a bitchy fit over the product, please understand we are all entitled in our own opinions.  Despite the controversy, IN WHICH Revlon has apologized for and is currently working with the bloggers it had occurred to, I still like the nail polish.  Though it upsets me they did so, I am glad they are resolving the issue.
Sinful Colors is just a nicely priced product that goes for $1.99.  So when it's on sale for just $0.99, I have to grab some!  With that said...
I also included  the two New York Color nail polishes I picked up when Rite-Aid was having the sale of 40% off all New York Color products.
Every thing is listed left to right:
New York Color Expert Last Nail Polish:
  • Green Means Go
  • Flash of Pink
Sinful Colors:
  • Happy Ending
  • Vacation Time
  • Lavender
  • Ocean Side
  • Clementine
  • Slate
  • Rain Storm
  • Citrine
  • Timbleberry
So there is my little haul of polishes over the weekend.  I had to buy Happy Ending again since that was the bottle that had broke awhile back.

Did you pick up any polishes during Walgreens' 99cents Sinful Colors sale?  What is your favorite color from them?

Nail Polish: Sinful Colors Leap Flog

I finally gave in and decided to grab this shade from Sinful Colors.  I honestly thought the name was Leap Frog, and not Flog.  At that moment, I couldn't remember exactly the meaning of flog.
Flog Definition:
  1. Beat (someone) with a whip or stick to punish or torture them: "the stolen horses will be returned and the thieves flogged".
  2. Promote or talk about (something) repetitively or at excessive length.
**Defintion VIA Dictionary.com
Pretty interesting for a name.
The shade is more of a dusty forest green sort of shade to me.  This nail polish is crazy lol.  There are times where it looks more darker and yet paler in forest green.
My only issue with it is, it seems sort of patchy to me after 2 coats.  There were parts on my nail where I could still see through it.  So 3 coats would be perfect for it.
Drying time is so and so.  It does not dry quickly.  But overall I am happy with this nail polish and glad that I grabbed it.

Don't forget that this week until Saturday (July 28th), Walgreens will be having a sale on Sinful Colors for 99cents.  So if you love cheapo polishes it's a good grab for your collection.  They have a wide range of colors.

What is your favorite nail polish from Sinful Colors?

Nail Polish: Sinful Colors - Energetic Red

So I bought this awhile back, lol April to be exact, and never mentioned anything about it.  Better late than never right?
Energetic Red was part of their Wow Pop Collection that pictured superhero comic sort of thing.  Supposedly this is also included in their POPtastic Summer collection.

Nail Polish: New York Color Mint Breeze, Golden Glam, & Time Square Tangerine Dream

For the rest of this week til JULY 21st, all New York Color products will be on sale for 40% off.  You also get a $1+UP with your rewards card.  If you do go into Rite-Aid sneak around the cosmetic aisles, just to check if they have any NYC coupons of $0.50 any $1.72 or more purchase.  So even better savings!
This time I had only picked up three nail polishes since I already grabbed some other items during that weekend of other polishes and such.
The bottles for their Expert Last nail polish seem better than their other bottles.

Nail Polish: Color Club - Hot Couture, Magic Attraction, Beyond the Mistletoe, Gingerbread, & Covered in Diamonds

Over the weekend we had gone to Ross and hubs caught eye of a Color Club collection ($7.99 per box).  Of course he quickly ninja-ed it up for me, so that it may be included within my kit.  At first glance I was quickly excited because it said Glitter Vixen.  As we were in line, I was checking online, and realized none of the original EXCEPT for one was in there.  Okay two if you count a dupe!  I am not mad though!  What do you expect from Ross?  Though I would greatly appreciate it that they would avoid doing such things since it fools those who are unsure of the collections.  Just my opinion though!
Here is a picture of how the original Glitter Vixen looks like:
**Taken from Color Club website
And here is what mine looks like:
So off right?  The first and 4th bottle from the left are the same ones.  I thought they were different, but after close inspection they are exactly the same!  So for the other bottle, I will be passing it off to my friend.

Nail Polish: Cosmetic Arts (no name)

I have seen Cosmetic Arts products before but I have never picked them up.  You could normally find their products at Ross, which is where I have only seen them at.  The polish goes for $1.99 a bottle.  I suggest if you do head to Ross and you see a shade you want, grab it!  Don't think of "I'll wait til next time," because sometimes that item won't be there no more.

Once again there is no name for this shade at all.  The owner of Cosmetic Arts are the same owner for Color Club, which is Forsythe Cosmetic Group.  Makes sense why there is no name sticker upon it.  It would be really helpful if they did have it though.
Within the bottle, it reminded me of a polish that I have seen before, but never grabbed.  Since at that time, I didn't think it was something I would want.  But like they say "Grab a polish for just incase!"

I cracked and FiS! OH MY!

So over the weekend, I had finally cracked!  I have been on a no-buy where I was attempting to finish up some products in order to buy some new ones.  But that was getting me no where haha.  I went into a drugstore to pick up a colored eyeliner, and instead I ended up buying nail polishes, along with some little goodies my son decided to pick up as well.  Gotta love the toss on the counter while mommy is paying!  haha no no!  My kid isn't like that.  He actually asked me if he may get one, and I told him "No, but you could get two."

Okay for the Color Club and Cosmetic Arts nail polishes, I have no clue what the names of it are.  So if you have ANY IDEA at all, let me know!  Either send me an email or make a comment.  I will greatly appreciate it.  I'll post swatches of it soon.
As for the New York Color I bought them over at Rite-Aid which is currently on sale for 40% off for this week only (July 15 - 21).  Actually it's all the New York Color products at the moment.  Which is great!  If you're lucky your Rite-Aid could have the $0.50 off coupon for NYC cosmetics.  Not to mention $1+up with Rewards card.
So here are the NYC polishes I picked up:
  • Mint Breeze
  • Golden Glam
  • Times Square Tangerine Creme
So there is my small FiS moment of goodies!

What did you pick up over the weekend?

Oh nails, Y U SO SHORT?!

So last week I mentioned in my post I mentioned that I had to cut down my nails.  A few have seen these already on my quick shot upon Instagram.  I decided to make an actual post of it.
It'll take some time to get use to short nails again, but hopefully they speed up in growth like they normally do.

Double slap those nails! But they're done!

First off I would like to say thank you to all of those who follow or check out my blog.  Greatly appreciate it.  Second off, if you do my tutorials, or I give you inspiration please note it.  So I could check it out.  Lately I found two people who actually took my tutorials changed some words in it, but still copied exactly what I did.  :( That sort of ticked me off.  So like I say "Give credit when due!  If someone inspired you to do something, let it be known!"  Though there are times when great minds think alike, which in case high five to you!  But when it's to a T, yeah...that gets my engines going a bit...

So sorry about that I had to get it off my chest!

Well I have been doing my nails on and off.  Just haven't really been taking pictures of it.  But they have been done!  I'll post two pictures of what I have done lately.

Nail Polish: CQ Intense Color Enamel Polish - Tropics

A few days ago, I realized I didn't have an actual blue sort of shade nail polish.  So I was on a mission to get one for my kit.  Most of the blue polishes that I saw were more of with a metallic or sheer sort of look to it.  Which is something I didn't want.  And if you know me, I don't like spending a lot on polishes.  Cheap polishes are fine to me.
I was in Rite-Aid walking around and stopped over at the CQ polish section.  They are the same company that makes the Chameleon, and Petites nail polishes.  Their price range goes from $1.99 to $3.99.  I never picked up their Intense Color Enamel line before, so I was pretty intrigued when I caught a glance of a blue that I actually really liked.
I love how the shape of the bottle looks and how the name is on front of it as well.  The cost of the polish was $3.99 and they have a wide arrange of shades.

There were no strays on the brush at all, and it's not too thin or too thick.  Was just right.  Applying it to the wheel went on with ease, and did wonders as a two coaters.
This was the perfect blue I was looking for on a nail look I have in mind.  Hopefully I could get those done before Saturday!

Nail Polish: Essie Mojito Madness

I received this polish from Klout.com and would not be possible without you many followers!  So thank you for making this possible!
I was so excited upon getting one of Essie's summer collection polishes for free.  At first they made it sound like it was more than one, but either way I was happy.  If you know me, you know I love my polishes!
Oh Mojito Madness you are one serious gorgeous lime green color.

I say this would look super nice with some hot fuchsia shade on top of it.  Got to do a nail look with this polish soon.
I love the formula of Essie nail polishes.  Though sometimes I try to avoid spending $8+ on polishes, they are still worth the grab here and there.
Do you have a favorite Essie polish?  Did you get the Essie perk from Klout?
