Oh Mail! Oh my!

So today in the mail I received the Target Style goodie bag that they were giving away on their Facebook fan page.
Damn USPS seriously!  The box was beat up a bit.  The first thing I see when I open up the box, is this brightly colored cosmetic bag.
Actually love the color combo on it.  The brand is London Soho.  When I opened the bag, I noticed something leaked a bit.  Wasn't a huge mess, just on the bottle of one of the products.  Easy clean up.
I noticed a bottle fell after I uploaded the pictures to the PC.  Was too lazy to take another one.  So sorry about that!
  • London Soho cosmetic bag
  • L'Oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer sample
  • Pantene Color Shampoo travel size
  • Neutrogena Visibly Bright Facial Cleanser travel size
  • Nivea Extended Moisture Daily Lotion travel size (the bottle that fell over)
  • Simple Sensitive Skin Experts Cleansing Facial Wipes travel size
  • A booklet of Target coupons for some beauty products
Thank you Tarje for giving out the sample goodie bags!

Did you get one?

Uh-oh! FiS moment!

I was suppose to be on a total "no-buy cosmetics" goal, but with getting supplies for work, I find it difficult to avoid.  Not to mention some of these sales that have been going on!
So here is what I picked up over the weekend!
The Sedona Lace samples came in last week, but I never got around to posting about it.  Just been so busy with so many things going on.  It included three pans of eyeshadow from their most popular palettes, and a travel brush of their Vortex Synthetic Blender.  I haven't opened up the pans yet.  As for the brush it's so cute and small!  The bristles are super soft!  Will definitely will have this in my stash when I go on travel.
Headed to Ulta.  Picked up two of their Salon Nail Lacquer in Jaded, and Maine Attraction, which is currently going as 2 for $4.  I only have one nail polish from Ulta, so I had to try more, before I pick up some for a care package to a good friend.  I also picked up Maybelline's Dream Matte Powder, in light and medium shade BOGO1/2.  So basically my trip to Ulta I spent only $12 sum since I also had the $3.50 off coupon.  Not bad at all!
Went to K-mart and noticed they had BOGO1/2 on Wet 'n' Wild products, and noticed they had the shades I was looking for the Megalast Lip Color.  Honestly if you have not tried these yet, I suggest you pick one up!  They are actually my favorite items from them.  They were actually $2.99 a piece for the lipsticks.  I picked the Coral-ine, and Purty Persimmon.
My next pick up of items, was from Walgreens.  They are currently having 50% off ALL Rimmel items.  How awesome is that?  And not to mention here are three coupons for you to print out.  Make sure your Walgreens does accept these.
http://www.redplum.com/pages/viewoffer.aspx?OfferId=92667
http://www.redplum.com/pages/viewoffer.aspx?OfferId=90042
http://www.redplum.com/pages/viewoffer.aspx?OfferId=85548
You are able to print them out several times.  I didn't grab that much today, since I had forgotten my list of items that I need for the shoot.  The sale is well wicked!  The foundations were about $2 sum a piece at the 50% rate already, minus $1 from the coupon!  So I spent $3.74 + tax for both of them.  LOVE SAVING!  Oh they were the Match Perfection, and Clean Finish Foundation.

What did you pick up over the weekend?  Do you plan on heading out to Walgreens now for the sale?

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and have a great week.  Happy Monday gorgeous!

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

So I decided to try a different color combo with the acid  grunge nails (tutorial), and used the colors that inspired me from a shirt I saw in Target.  The way it came out reminded me of wall paint peeling off an abandoned house.
Nail Polish Used:
  • Orly Bonder for base coat
  • Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer - Black Swift
  • China Glaze - Secret Perwinkle
  • Sinful Colors - Fig
  • Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer - White on the Spot
  • Milani Nail Lacquer - Orchidia
  • Sinful Colors - Winterberry
  • Sinful Colors - Island Coral
  • China Glaze Fast Forward for top coat
So there you have it!  Have you tried doing those nails yet?  If you have shoot me a link!

Review: Wet 'n' Wild Megalast Lip Color Wine Room, Cherry Bomb, Mauve Outta Here, Spiked with Rum, Smokin' Hot Pink, & Mocha-licious

Recently Rite-Aid was having a sale on all Wet 'n' Wild products for 40% off.  I heard some good things about their Megalast Lip Color lipsticks before, so figured I should finally pick some up.  Especially since I am getting back into lippie items.  Yay!
At first I had only picked up one, cause I wasn't sure if I would like how it felt upon my lips.  Once I got home, and tried it on.  WIN!  I loved it!
So of course I ended up picking five more shades from them, since they didn't carry the other shades I had wanted.  Which is fine, I'll end up getting the other colors I wanted from WnW eventually.

4.23.2012

Uh-oh! FiS moment!

Wait wait...it wasn't really an FiS.  More of I was buying items for work, and not to mention some gifts.  Meh FiS or not, it's a haul so HA!
I went to Sephora, and was only suppose to pick up one thing, which was the travel size for the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray.  Doesn't work seriously!  I always end up picking up something else!  So I walked around a bit, and decided to grab Sephora's Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner, and their pencil sharpener since I needed a new one.  I then spotted sponge tip shadow brushes on their sale items section for $1!  Grabbed up two of those.  The canister pots are samples I had asked for.  The left contains Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, and the right is Makeup Forever's HD Elixir Primer.
If you didn't know you could do that, well you can!  You could ask for a sample of foundation, wash, primer, etc. to take home and try it.  I normally don't ask, but I needed to check some other primers out.
See that black bag in the back?  That's where my items were put in!  It looks super sleek, and I was actually shocked.  I never received a bag like that from them before.  Have you?

So the next haul in was a drugstore run.
Walgreens:
  • Sinful Colors Nail Polish was going for $0.99 a piece!  So I picked up four at the moment since there wasn't really any colors I wanted.  One is for me, and the other three are for my best friend Leslie.
Here's a close up of the polish I grabbed up.  From Left to right:
  • Island Coral < a peach coral shade which is the one I got for me
  • Pink < one of my favorite neon pink polishes thought it would be fun to add to her collection :)
  • Pink Forever < I think it's one of their new shades
  • GoGo Girl < a nice red shade polish
Rite-Aid:
  • Wet 'n' Wild was going for 40% off the whole cosmetic, and nail polish line.   So I grabbed up two of their eyeliners a Mink Brown, and Black to use for the film mess.  One of their Megalast Lipcolor in the shade Mauve Outta Here.  I ended up realizing I should of picked up more of those lipsticks!
So there you have it my little spree.

What did you pick up over the weekend?

Boo!

I have been a busy girl!  So this was a sample I sent to my brother, who is currently working on a film.  It's my take on a possessed girl.  Nothing but some eyeshadow, foundation, and eyeliners did the trick.
  • Jordana EasyLiner Blue Devine
  • Jordana EasyLiner Purple Fusion
  • Jordana Mini Eyeliner Brown
  • theBalm Nude'tude Palette
  • Sedona Lace 120 Pro Palette First Edition
  • BH Cosmetics 10 Color Palette Professional Camouflage Concealer
  • L'Oreal True Match Foundation
Seriously quick and easy, of what direction I am aiming at.  Oh and some help from Photoshop to make it more wicked!

L.o.t.D. simple does it neutrally!

Went for a real simple neutral look the other day, since I just got theBalm's Nude'tude I had to use it!

Review: theBalm Nude'Tude Eyeshadow Palette

If you love neutral eyeshadows, and want a palette that has a little bit more color variation, then you should check out theBalm's Nude'tude palette.
It has been on my list of wants for awhile now, but the only thing that had stopped me from obtaining it is well...if you know me, I love color!  Recently though a friend of mine Emily has got me into neutrals again.  So it peeked interest to me once again.  I then noticed theBalm was doing a daily giveaway on their Facebook and Twitter accounts, which by the way is still going on, so I decided to take my chances.  I ended up winning on Twitter from them!
I was super excited, and messaged them right away.  After being a pain in the arse of lack of patience, I had finally received it.  Eryn was even kind enough to toss in a Stainiac in the package.  So thank you for that!

Review: NYX Eyeshadow Base White

NYX Cosmetics' Eyeshadow Base in the shade white is my favorite eyeshadow base to use.  It usually cost $7, but sometimes you can catch it on sale at areas that carry the NYX Cosmetics product.  Very budget friendly, since one small pot could last you so long!

Oh Mail Oh My!

Here's what came in the mail this week:
I earned a perk on Klout.com** for Veet Wax Strip Remover.  If you haven't heard of Klout, you should definitely check them out especially if you are a blogging type of person.  I thought it was just a sample I would receive, but I ended up getting an actual full size package of it.  40 sheets, which I saw at Target for $8 sum.

The next item I received was the item I have been waiting for since I found out I won!
Eryn, from theBalm, was so kind, especially since I was a pain in the arse for being impatient (thanks again doll), that she threw in Stainiac Beauty Queen.  As some of you know, I already have it, but I am seriously loving it!  If you know me I hate wearing lippies, except for lip balms and such.  This was the first lip stain that I actually loved!  Nude'tude was on my want list for awhile now.  So glad they gave us all the opportunity to win something.  WHICH by the way is still going on!

All you have to do is Tweet @theBalm and one item you want from them, or you can go to their Facebook Fan Page and post on their wall the one item you want from them as well.  This happens every weekday!  So get at it, and good luck!

Which item should I do a review on first?

**Under no obligation did I receive this item or talk about Klout.  I will not get any additional benefits for talking about the product or company.

L.o.t.D. Evening Play Around

Here's the second look I did last night.
Purple, and a shade of light blue, is one of my favorite combos to do on my lil ol' brown eyes.

L.o.t.D. Play Around Moment

Yesterday I actually decided to shell out two looks for fun!  I'll have them separate though.  I wanted to do a look that didn't use so many colors from the Sleek Makeup Acid palette.  I picked three colors and stuck to it.

4.18.2012

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

I went super simple today.  More of nail art block mixed with laziness!  I did acid wash grunge nail tips.  You can find the tutorial on my blog.

Polishes Used:
  • Orly Bonder Base Coat
  • Milani High Speed Fast Dry Black Swift
  • Milani Nail Lacquer Beach Front
  • Milani High Speed Fast Dry Yellow Whiz
  • China Glaze Sun Worshiper
  • Milani High Speed Fast Dry Violet Dash
  • Milani High Speed Fast Dry Fast Fuchsia
  • China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat
When you're one nail art block, what do you do?  Do you leave it one coat color?  Grab shatter polish?

L.o.t.D. Oh Hello Bright Eyes

Sleek Makeup's iDivine Acid Palette, is one of my favorite palettes to work with.  I love how bright the colors are in it.  When ever it is gloomy outside, I grab these to brighten up my day.

I got some business cards in from Moo!

I just got my cards in today from Moo, its my first time with them, and I am sold!

Nail Polish: Hedy's Ma.Nish.Ma. - Bolts of Blue

I saw this item over at Rite-Aid, right under a display of Wet N Wild nail polishes.  The Hedy's Ma.nish.ma. display stated it was their matte line, so since I like matte polishes, I had to try it out for myself.

4.16.2012

Nail Polish: Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer

I received these 8 wonderful polishes from Milani Cosmetics, which is from their High Speed Fast Dry line.
The ones that I received are part of their new shades for this Spring.  They cost about $4.99, and can be found in stores that carry the Milani brand.

4.14.2012

L.o.t.D. - Purplen' Neutral

This was actually a look that I did on Thursday, and I am just now getting to posting it up.  Just been busy with a lot of things lately, and feeling a bit stressed.  Better late than never, right?
If you're curious about what is on my nails you can peep it here.
I wanted it to be kind of neutral and colorful at the same time.  So I only used three shades of eyeshadow.

4.13.2012

Uh-oh! FiS moment!

Last night, we headed to Target, which was near a Rite-Aid I normally go to.  We decided to swing by, and I was only suppose to grab one of Xan's favorite cookies (Moon pies), but I ended strolling around the cosmetic aisle.  haha which I always end up doing!  I decided to just grab three polishes.
  • L.A. Girl Glitter Addict - Celebrate ($1.50 it was half off)
  • Sinful Colors - Energetic Red ($1.99 typical price for them)
  • Hedy's Ma.nish.ma. - Bolts of Blue ($2.99)
I haven't seen Hedy's Ma.nish.ma. polish before, but I think I have seen some makeup products from them.  I'll have swatches of these up soon.

The other day, hubs received a package in the mail from Milani Cosmetics.  I totally forgot I entered him into the giveaway they were having on Facebook and Twitter.  I guess he won their last one with the 25 sum random item winners.
He gave me the items, so another intake to my collections.  It was their new shades for this spring Runway Eye Shadows.
  • Peaches & Cream
  • Antigua
  • Golden Touch
I have Peaches & Cream, and Antigua already, so I might be giving these away eventually.

Yesterday I received the items I won from Crown Brush's giveaway they were doing on their Facebook fan page.
I received Enkore's lovely makeup brush set he has with Crown Brush.  I had bought this already last year, but HEY a girl can't have enough brushes haha.  It's funny because I was just talking to my best friend, Les that I was thinking about buying some brushes.  The Cosmetic Gods heard my prayers and granted me brushes YAY!  I'll post up some sort of review or close look of these in due time.

Which of these items are you interested in seeing a review of?

Thank you for checking out my blog, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

Was suppose to post this earlier, but I was honestly having one of those moments where stress was kicking my ass.  So here is what on my nails at the moment:
Right Hand
The roses were inspired by two wonderful girls:
  • CutePolish - She was one of the first YT nail art videos I started watching.
  • Solmate - Megs is such a sweet girl, and good friend.  When I saw her tutorial of roses, I knew I had to try them.
I decided to mix the roses in with my version of acid wash nails.  Instead of using a nail art brush, to apply the nail polishes, I went with the second option of using the nail polish brush itself.  Not to mention different nail polish color combos.

Review: Jordana Cosmetics Eyeliner - Brown, Purple Fusion, & Blue Devine

I have always over looked this product for some reason.  I have seen them so many times when I am in Walgreens, sitting right there next to the cosmetic cashier counter.  This time I decided to pick up their eyeliners, and try it out.  I was in search for some colorful eyeliners, that were not so pricey.  These were seriously a cheap grab!
I decided to pick up three eyeliners for now:
  • Easyliner for Eyes Retractable Pencil - Blue Devine $1.99
  • Easyliner for Eyes Retractable Pencil - Purple Fusion $1.99
  • Mini Eyeliner - Brown $0.69
If you grab them at Walgreens, watch the price!  The one I went to try to overcharge me upon the price, but I pointed it out the price tags stated other wise.

Review: Milani Cosmetics - Impressionist Powder Eyeshadow Palette

Another goodie from my Milani Cosmetics package I received.  It's a new add to their paint palette collection for Spring 2012, Impressionist Powder Eyeshadow Palette.
This is available at select Walmarts only at the moment.  They will be releasing it on their web sometime soon.
There are three kinds of these type of palettes:
  • Impressionist (which will be focused on in this review)
  • Abstract a neutral palette
  • Paint a colorful bright colors

Nail Polish: New York Color (NYC) Matte Me Crazy Top Coat polish

I needed a new matte polish, since my old one was turning to "ICK WTF is that?"  So I mentioned to my nail girls that I am in search of a new one, and one of them has mentioned that NYC had came out with a matte polish.
So my first pick of matte polish, was suddenly poofed whenever I went to Walmart -sad face-.  Then someone on Twitter (Ciara) mentioned that they have snagged this little goodie up.

Uh-oh! FiS Moment!

So this weekend, I decided to check out some cheapo eyeliners, and spend a little bit on myself.
I normally overlooked these, and grab something else, but these were saying "Grab me!"  It gave me the opportunity to also try their eyeliner since a friend of mine was looking for a cheap nice brown eyeliner.  Jordana Cosmetics is apparently owned by the same company that owns Milani Cosmetics.
I picked up the colors:
  • Brown
  • Purple Fusion
  • Blue Devine
Have you tried any of Jordana's items?

Thanks for stopping in, and seeing my FiS moment!

L.o.t.D. - A little bit of neutral goes a long way

Normally I would go all bright and colorful, but today for some weird reason I felt that I should go neutral.

Tutorial: Nail Art - Acid Grunge Wash

I have been asked several times how I did these nails.  I was debating on doing a tutorial on these or not, but my answer soon came to me.  There's a Rite-Aid near my place, that I usually go to with my son to get ice cream at, but this time I was looking at makeup haha.  The cashier, I didn't get her name at all, stated "You're the one with does her own nails," or something along those lines.  I was surprised that she remembered me at all!  So after that incident, I knew I had to do a tutorial on it!

Once again these were a combination of inspirations from my dear sweet friend Emily, and Jamie from Nails Adored.

Review: Milani Cosmetics - Abstract Powder Eyeshadow Palette

Another surprise item from Milani Cosmetics!  A compact palette with the concept of being able to swirl around hues to create your own masterpiece for your eyes.  Instead of eye popping color, its the infamous neutral shades!  Still gorgeous none the less!  This is only available at SELECT Walmarts, and will not be available on their website til later this month (maybe).

4.05.2012

Are you a primer?

I have been asked several times, "Is that a good primer," "What's the best primer to use," etc.  And what some people fail to realize, not all primers may work for your skin.  Therefore I cannot tell you what is the best primer to use, or if what I am using is a good primer for you to use as well.
What is good for me, may not be good for you.
You need to find a good foundation/face primer that is good for you.  Do your research.  Ask for help.  Just remember it varies on your skin type!
I can tell you if a primer is good, but I think it's good for my skin type.  I wouldn't know really about other skin type products.  Since I am a dry skin type, why would I grab something that is focused for oily skin?
If you're in a cosmetic shop, remember the Promo Girl/Guy will tell you it's a good item, because they are suppose to sell the products they have in the shop.  So just because they say it is good, doesn't mean it is.  You could ask for a take home sample so you could try the product at home.
What is the use of a primer?
A primer isn't always needed.  You could skip this process, and just deal with a moisturizer.   Since a primer works like a moisturizer underneath your foundation:  It creates an ease in application for foundations and creates a barrier between the foundation and your skin.  Primers just take the extra step beyond foundations.  It helps even out your skin tone, help make your makeup last longer, and not to mention absorb oil.
  • Allows foundation to stay put when the weather is hot.
  • Prevents your skin from absorbing Talc and pigment from your foundation, as well as the talc from absorbing oil from your skin.
  • They contain botanicals to soothe and refreshen your skin.
  • And the biggest part, avoid having cake face!  ICK
Make sure if you do use a primer or moisturizer, make sure to apply it 15 minutes before you  put on your foundation.  This will help avoid streak marks from applying your foundation.

L.o.t.D. with the Sunset of Sleek.

I was suppose to go neutral today, but I had to use the blue within this gorgeous palette from Sleek.

4.04.2012

Nails done? OH YEAH! Check!

So today's nails were inspired by a cake picture I saw on Tumblr.  I loved the color on it!  Black and turquoise.  I decided I wanted to do my nails with vintage swirls vector of the sort.

So here's what I came up with.
Nail Polish Used:
  • Milani - Mint Candy
  • Milani - Dark Coffee
Base coat is ORLY Bonder, and top coat is China Glaze Fast forward.
I love getting inspiration from random things I see around.  What inspired your recent nail work?

Hope you have a wonderful day, and happy polishing!
